Nokia Media Streamer launches in India via flipkart, a new Android-based streaming device for televisions. It runs on Android 9, has a dedicated remote, and supports up to full-HD resolution streaming.
The streaming devices segment in India is heating up. A few days ago Xiaomi launched the Mi Box 4K and Mi TV-stick in india, and now Nokia has launched their Media Streamer,
Like other popular streaming devices , this streamer will connect to your television through the HDMI port, and to the Internet via Wi-Fi to fetch streaming content.
Nokia Media Streamer specifications and features
The Nokia Media Streamer will have Full HD (1920*1080) at 60fps support. An unspecified quad-core processor along with a Mali 450 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM underneath. Dolby Audio supports and Dual-band Wi-Fi & multi I/O antenna for better reception.
It runs Android TV 9.0 OS, Google’s Android operating system for smart televisions, and media streaming devices. The built-in Chromecast feature allows users to cast their mobile phone screens onto the TV.
The remote is a voice-enabled and has Netflix & ZEE5 hotkeys. It is first time in India we are seeing the ZEE5 hotkey on remote.
Nokia Media Streamer price and competition
The Nokia Media Streamer has been priced at Rs 3,499. While the features of the device are very much similar to Xiaomi Mi Box 4K, Xiaomi also offers the Ultra-HD and HDR at the same price of Rs. 3,499. The lack of 4K support makes Xiaomi Mi Box 4K one step ahead to Nokia In this segment.
It will also go up against the Amazon Fire TV Stick, which is usually priced at Rs. 3,999. The newly launched device go on sale on August 28 on Flipkart.
Flipkart also handles the Television segment for Nokia in India. In recent times, we have seen Flipkart launching some affordable Nokia Smart TVs as well
