India’s largest operator Reliance Jio hikes prepaid tariff after a few days of Airtel Tariff hikes followed by Vodafone Idea (VIL). All the three private telecom operator in India hikes their prepaid tariff by up to 20-25% except state-owned service provider BSNL. As per JIO Announcement, the new Increased rates will be effective from December 1, 2021.
In last week its rival Airtel and Vi have increased their prepaid tariffs by upto 20-25%, citing the need for higher Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and for a financially healthy business model.
The increase in tariffs is very much needed to address the financial stress faced by the industry and it will certainly help the industry in long run to strengthen the telecom industry for investing in new technologies and realize the government’s vision of Digital India. This also helps Vi and Airtel to manage AGR dues to the government.
Jio hikes prepaid tariff by 20 percent: detailed
In a statement, Jio said these plans will provide the best value in the industry. Upholding the Mukesh Ambani promise of providing the best quality service at the lowest price globally, Jio customers will continue to be the biggest beneficiaries.
The current Jio phone plan will increase from ₹ 75 to ₹ 91 from December 1, a hike of more than 20 percent.
The unlimited plans ₹ 129 plan will now cost ₹ 155, offer unlimited voice calls, 300 SMS, and 2GB of data for 28days.
The commonly used unlimited plan ₹ 199 plan will now cost ₹ 239, offers unlimited voice calls,100 SMS/day, and 1.5GB/day data for 28days.
Similarly, the plan ₹ 399 will become ₹ 479, offers unlimited voice calls,100 SMS/day, and 1.5GB/day data for 56days
The Most Popular unlimited plan ₹ 555 will become ₹ 666, offers unlimited voice calls,100 SMS/day, and 1.5GB/day data for 84days.
Similarly, the Annual plan ₹ 2,399 plan will now cost ₹ 2,879, offers unlimited voice calls,100 SMS/day, and 2GB/day data for 365days.
Jio further mentioned that data top-ups will now cost ₹ 61 for 6 GB (up from ₹ 51), ₹ 121 for 12 GB (up from ₹ 101), and ₹ 301 for 50 GB (up from ₹ 251).
The new Jio prepaid tariff will come into effect from Dec 1, 2021, therefore it is suggested to recharge in advance before Dec, 1.
