BSNL Broadband has once again created the BUZZ in the broadband segment by offering over-the-top (OTT) services via Add-on packs for their customers. To counter the Jio and Airtel, BSNL has launched four new unlimited FTTH BSNL broadband plans in October 2020, Fiber basic @Rs449 offer 30 Mbps speed, Fiber Value @Rs 799 offers 100Mbps, Fiber premium @Rs 999 offers 200Mbps, and Fiber ultra @Rs 1499 offers 300Mbps speed. To fill up the gap between fiber basic and fiber value, BSNL recently launched Basic Fiber Plus which offers unlimited data @60 Mbps speed at Rs.599 per month which become very popular in a very short span of time.
Bsnl Broadband has a vast range of affordable plans to cater the needs of all types of customers but the only thing that was missing in BSNL broadband plans was the OTT services. But now BSNL has realized that the future of broadband internet services in India will not depend only on affordable plans but it depends heavily on OTT services also. Therefore to keep in the race BSNL has decided to offer OTT services in all circles Via Add-on packs at a very affordable price, which is a very innovative move from BSNL Management.

The benefit of Add-On packs is that BSNL Broadband customers can take this benefits on any BSNL’s DSL / FTTH / AirFibre / BBoWiFi Broadband plan by paying a fixed monthly charge of Rs 129 only. For example, BSNL Broadband Customer can take this OTT add-on packs with the cheapest available FTTH Plan fiber Basic @449 plan by paying only Rs 129 per month and enjoy OTT services, unlike other operators which generally offer the OTT services on their higher plan only.
As per the latest information, the OTT add-on pack will give a subscription of – VOOT Select, SonyLIV Special, Zee5 Premium – All-access pack, YuppTV Live (NCF Channels), YuppTV FDFS (First Day First Show), YuppTV Movies, Support & Marketing, etc. This OTT add-on pack available from 18th January 2021 for all BSNL’s DSL / FTTH / BharatFiber/AirFibre / BBoWiFi Broadband customers by paying a fixed monthly charge of Rs 129/-.for the first 3 months after that, the same benefits will be available at Rs 199 per month.
This OTT add-on pack available for new as well as existing BSNL’s DSL / FTTH /BharatFiber/ AirFibre / BBoWiFi Broadband customers.
BSNL has made an agreement for aggregation and provision of OTT services with M/s YuppTV. In case the customer opts out from BSNL’s Broadband service, the service of OTT will be automatically disconnected after the expiry of the add-on pack.
BSNL’s FTTH (Bharat Fiber), as well as DSL Broadband customers, may subscribe to this OTT add-on pack from 18th January 2021 onwards. Customers opting for OTT add-on pay may enjoy a premium subscription to the above-mentioned OTT streaming apps at just Rs 129 per month and save up to Rs. 417 per month if they take the same OTT subscription from the content provider directly. After three months, the same benefits will be available to BSNL Broadband customers at Rs 199 per month and it also saves up to Rs. 350 per month on OTT bundles they are getting with this add-on pack.
While BSNL has stepped up in the right direction, it will be interesting to see how consumers responds and react to this OTT add-on pack. For the unaware, BSNL also offers a free subscription of Disney+ Hotstar Premium with its select fiber broadband plans namely ‘Superstar 300GB/month’ (Rs 779/month), ‘Superstar 500GB/month’ (Rs 949/month), ‘Fibre Premium’ (Rs 999/month), and ‘Fibre Ultra’ (Rs 1,499/month).
